Thanks for the input. I'm asking from a camera department perspective. I ask because I work in a production department, so its an expendable that I'm now responsible for buying. So I appreciate the insight. Any other suggestions?

This may sound like a ridiculous question, but what are the different uses for paper and cloth tape, and are both necessary or can you get away with just one kind?

I'm curious about everyone's personal tape preferences (what and how much do you carry and why) as well as where are the best places to get it.

Matt, looks good. did you assemble the box with glue or fasteners? and what did you use for the mounting bracket on the back?

thanks for the ideas. sachtler actually makes an adapter: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4340...OX_ADAPTER.html my thoughts so far have been to try and make something similar that would attach to the legs rather than the head in order to avoid any problems when the camera tilts or pans.

Matt, any luck with your project? i was also wondering if anyone was aware of a way to make a frontbox work on a smaller tripod that doesn't have bolts on the head. i use a vinten tripod at work and the head is too small to accommodate the box, but i'm trying to figure out a way to make it work anyway. any creative suggestions?

please post pictures when you're done, i've been thinking about taking a shot at making one too.

I have a quick question about DoF calculations. Most of the time I am shooting digitally (cameras with 1/3" and 2/3" CCD's), so I've been using that to make calculations with. Do I need to make adjustments when using a lens adapter and prime lenses, or does everything stay the same? Thanks for the help.
