  1. Experiments in the past 2 years using two identical parallel video cameras for 3D and post-processing at SD still not convince me at all.

I'm working on a mirror split system for single camera like the one used by Bolex in the 50's but for a bigger lens

like a 72mm diameter and will be test on my Scoopic MS and Frezolini LW16.

The resulting 16mm split frame image is in perfect alignment always and the color and contrast of film will be superior than video.

There is a free processing software called "stereo movie maker" for creating the final frame composition.

Anaglyph and polarized will be test, but for internet anaglyph is the best choice for me.

Finaly I will test also some anamorphic lenses to achieve a more wider aspect ratio on the final image.

Any sugestions will be greatly apreciated

  2. Hi , for thet video I use a Kowa 2x anamorphic , I'm shooting an 8mm regular film using the 2x also.

    check this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVDAKN-UXCA

on this I use the LA7200 but in a video camera

for the scoopic use the zoom at 30mm or more this will prevent some side distortions cause by

lens mismatch in wide-angle , but is minimal, focus is ok in 16mm.

I will post some test film soon.

    Gracias!

  3. Glued? I actually had no problem following your method with a broken polarizing filter attached to the LA7200 but it screwed in fine on both sides; the adapter and the camera... no glue needed. I still haven't found rods or anything to hold it in position however so I'm constantly adjusting the rotation before shooting. Of course, spinning it around while shooting gives a fun effect too.

Hi Will, I'm a "gerrilla filmmaker" to glue or not to glue!, final work is what matters.

    happy new year!!!

  4. hello,

For the processing I use a Russian LOMO tank for 16mm found on ebay 3 years ago ,water temperature and developer concentration was controlled no need to use photoflo, cleaning was done before telecine ,room was very clean and air conditioner was also use.

The tank only hold 50ft. of film so I made this two times.

I made a lot of practice on B&W before making this reversal process.

For the anamorphic I use the LA7200 using a polarizing filter ring (no glass) glued to the adapter because tread dont match the Canon lens this allow to focus and let the anamorphic to move back and forth, the trick is to keep the anamorphic in horizontal position all the time.

My next project will be on Ektachrome super 8mm using E-6 chemistry , just for fun.

  5. Hi , film processing was done by the book at controlled temperature and time , no contrast adjust.

What You see is the result of the chemical process only and telecine was done using 3:2 pulldown

it was shoot at 24fps, I just need to remove the 3:2 for proper frame rate.

The Canon Scoopic is a very nice camera and the lens is very sharp I use a 12v@7000mAh lead acid battery,

    is less expensive than Nickel-Cad.

The anamorphic lens works very nice when zoom is at 30mm or more, also focus can be use by holding the

adapter in place using a support.

  6. I see, so you lose your viewfinder when the video assist is on. How fast can you swap your video assist for your eyepiece?

Hi Saul, the video camera is just inserted on the tube (no screws) I only rotate it to fix the image.

The viewfinder can be use without the 4 screw it use, so I can use both.

This Angenieux lens was design for TV news on the shoulder camera and is not posible to adjust to other positions.

This setup is basicaly for crane and dolly situations.

  7. Ok , the link to see the complete setup:

    http://www.prtc.net/~rfelectronic/video_assist.htm

Now there's one thing to fix , that is to correct the left to right image inversion cause by reflex prism,

that will be done in the CRT video monitor:

1- open the back cover of the monitor

2- look for 2 cables (RED & BLUE) that goes to the deflection yoke in the picture tube and switch positions.

this reverse the horizontal scan of the picture tube and fix the image.

    good luck!

  8. What? No anamorphic? Come on Rolando!

Hi Will! sorry this test was made before the anamorphic adapter, soon I'll post the anamorphic test in color and Rank telecine.

    thanks.

  9. Hello, did you know any laboratory that made the transition from negative 500T super 8mm to Reverse film? or is only to telecine?

    Regards

I don't remember any lab for this , but 500T is intended for telecine ,if you look for projecting use Ektachrome.

  10. in this thread santo recommends using 675 hearing aid batteries. although he says they're 1.2v, i've only seen them listed as 1.4v.

what would the effect be of using a 1.4v battery instead of 1.3?

Hi , my canon 814 works perfect using 2 hearing aid zinc air size 675.
