  1. Hey guys!

I'm selling my awesome Leica Super Angulon 21mm f4/22 with a 300€ Cinevised modification from TLS in the UK (like Duclos in LA)
I'm willing to let it go for 700€ for Forum members :) This is a lens that goes for 700$ to 1200$ on eBay WITHOUT the 300€ Cinestyle modification!
You won't find a better wide angle lens on the market!
It is a gorgeous vintage Leica lens - Serial #2318464 (1969)
This is the best wide angle on the market for DSLR cinematography and will fit on any camera fitted with a Canon™ EF (like 5D and other) RED EPIC™, Black Magic™, etc. It covers every sensor, even 6K camera sensors like the Epic Dragon. (I used it myself on my Red Epic Dragon™ 6K).
The lens had a 300€ modification for a cine style usage (called "Cinemod" or "Cinevised") made by TLS (True Lens Services, British equivalent of Duclos in Los Angeles) in the UK so it can be used in "cinema shooting" mode with a follow focus. It bears the following characteristics:
    • Canon™ EF hard mount (aluminium machined made to mesure by Leitax)
    • Aperture declicked
    • Standard pitch.32 gear focus ring for your favorite Follow Focus
    • Arri™ standard 80mm front ring (ideal for a clip-on Mattebox)
    • 80mm lens hood
    • Canon™ EF mount cap
It is also sold with its original Leica hood, R-cap, and sun hood (not on the photos).
This lens is in perfect condition, extremely fluid and sturdy and the legendary Leica quality gives images largely superior in quality and definition to any other lens on the market (Canon, Nikon, Sigma, etc...). A true lens for filmmaking! Perfect for indie filmmakers who want true film quality images!
I will ship anywhere in the world!
It's a gorgeous 1969 lens (serial N° 2318464) guaranteed to cover 6K sensors. I've shot numerous features, commercials and music videos with this lens but I just got a 19mm and don't need both. This lens will be with you for the rest of your life!

  2. Hi,

here's a quick lens test I made with a new lens I just got. I bought a used Angénieux 70-210mm f/3.5 with a Leica R mount which I adapted on my Red Epic via a Novoflex Lens Mount Adapter - Leica "R" Lens to Canon EOS Body. It's a great lens, handmade, very well built, made in France in the early 80's.

My Epic was set to 800 ASA, RC 8:1, 5K Widescreen, Redgamma 3 and no filters.

Everything was shot indoor daylight on a hazy (sometimes slightly bright) sunday afternoon.

I ran my footage through Redcine X Pro only to export screenshots. I didn't grade anything and didn't alter the footage in any way.

I shot every scene framed as accurately as possible to make the comparison easier.

As you can see, the Angénieux is much warmer and soft than the Canon. I really like it.

    Here it is:

The first interesting factor is that the lens is 770g lighter, almost half the weight an size on the Canon (although my Canon is Cinemoded), making it really nice for run and gun handheld style shooting. I plan giving it a Cinemod by Duclos, like I did with my Canon lenses. But in my opinion, the true advantage of these old school pre auto focus era lenses, is that the focus ring stops so you can really shoot cine style, with proper focus marks. I know my 1st AC will love it... And the really good news is that it holds focus AND aperture throughout the zoom!

And here's a little bonus with some live footage at the end... :)

Here's some original 80's coverage and reviews in french (you can understand some interesting detailed technical specs i'm sure even if you don't speak french!):

  3. Yes, could you please tell us more about your key. Post some stills?

PS: if the user included himself in the camera package, he hardly worked fo free. And in any case, one has the right to do whatever he pleases. Especially if he wants to experience a great shooting subject and opportunity to use his gear and see what it comes like. Don't forget, Red is new. There's a lot of excitement and curiosity about the use and result, still. I would have loved to accompany my camera on a MV shoot and see what it's like on the screen, meet the crew, help with the cam, etc... I'm sur this guy had a great time too. Some people should rather spend time unpaid on a film set and serve a creative purpose, practice their social skills and learn some film stuff, than be pointless arrogant and sarcastic cunts on this forum, for the same salary.
