  1. Hey guys I'm selling my 85mm because I'm just got a job with a clothing company and I'm not gonna be using this lens as often for their photography. Beside I need to fix my 5d & 7d sensors.

Here's the link where I'm selling it on ebay.

I can reached at my email for any further questions.

  2. Wow, at first when I watched it I thought you were using some heavy equipment, then I read you were using just a HV20 and a Merlin. Wow, amazing job. The shots are great and the editing is flawless.

One thing that I don't really know if I like or not is that in the color corrected version the Viper looks a bit too lime... I liked the green in the original better.

    Great job.

Yea I wasn't 100% with the color correction version...I kinda rushed into it in the post but thanks Steve McBride 4 your critique.

  3. Nice but too fragmented. Color overburned. Too much 'flashy'. Timewarp with frameblending is a flaw.

You waste coolness of transtrack shot by placing it at the beginning.

    No integral idea in editing...

    Not bad =)

Thanks for your critique Timofey Mogilnikov. Yea pretty much before I started I knew someone else could have edited this better than me. Though I focus more on camera movement in all my projects, I still need to practice on my editing. I was going to hand this off to an editor & colorist but then i was too eager to see the final project. I may have rushed into it in the post.

  4. Thanks Filip for commenting :)

It is a promo video - only way I could buy the 35mm lens adapter to shoot it! So, now that I own it from doing this project, I can now go out and shoot an indie.

I shot it iwth two inexpensive Nikon zooms - a 70-150mm and a 24-75mm I believe. I also used a 50mm prime for some shots too.

The camera was the very inexpensive HV20 - I'm very impressed with it's image, and had faith in it the entire shoot. And I think it's evident that it worked well enough, or so I hope.

wow nice video! hey did u use a camera crane? anyways It makes me want to get my own 35mm adapter and nikon lens

though im a total newbie at this....i have lots of questions  if u dont mind

Where can i purchase the 35 adapter u have?

What editing software did you use?

Did you had to de-interlace the video (i never done this before,if so tell me how)

How can i upload my video on the web to look as good as urs?

  5. read and study! and practice! I've learned SO much in the last year from reading as many books as I can get my hands on and going out and shooting anything! 35mm stills/MiniDV shorts, anything!

I recommend Cinematography: Theory and Practice and Motion Picture and Video Lighting by Blain Brown

Cinematography: Third Addition by Kris Malkiewitz and M. David Mullen, Film Directing: Shot by Shot by Stephen Katz

and a lot more that are listed in the Recommended Books section of the forum.

Watch a lot of commentaries on DVD's as well!

that's my two cents... I was self taught until last year and now am in school and these resources (cine.com + books and DVD's) taught me more than the first few months in school!

    good luck!

awesome nice advice im goin to check out this books as soon as i can!

  6. Hi there.

I'm a 28-year old videographer/editor working for the local ABC affiliate in the production department, meaning I produce commercials and promotional spots. Prior to that I was a photojournalist for a leading Spanish television network. I also currently run my own freelance 'business' where I work on everything from corporate videos to documentaries.

My dream has always been to work in film and I've reached a point where I'm ready to move on from this corporate/local TV environment. I want to be surrounded by artists/filmmakers.

I've already picked two routes to take: graduate film school (AFI's cinematography program) or try to somehow get work on a crew.

From the small amount of experience that I have, I have to realize what you can learn alot from the workplace as opposed to the classroom. I did, after-all, study film and communications at UM-Ann Arbor. But that was very theory oriented. I pretty much picked up my technical skills on my own or on the job.

Now why go to film school? Well, I picked AFI because it's very production oriented and I have minimal film experience. And like I said, I want to work with people who have the same interests as I do and learn from folks that are masters of the craft.

My biggest issue with AFI is the cost.

My biggest issue with working on a crew is well...finding and being given that chance.

So there you go, I'd appreciate any feedback/suggestions.

Looking to take that next step.

    :o

whoa!.... im in the position as you my friend .....i'm 23 and i work for a local fox/univision affiliate and i also produce commercials and promos but my dream is to work in film as well. I also wanna go to AFI school and go into the cinematography program. I worked at my job for a year now but its not enough...i already surpassed the level of work here and i just wanna work with filmmakers. I love cinematography..... My best bet would be to leave my city and be surrounded by filmmakers. anyways keep me update on ur progress with AFI
