  1. i normally use the widescreen centre in the uk for film/process/telecine. came across these guys today http://www.bluecinetech.co.uk/ seems very nice and cheap just wondered if anyone had used them before and had a thoughts? (telecine quality, turnaround time etc) thanks tom
  2. thanks for the reaply so i take it i can use any of these stocks (apart from the 500t) in my nizo, and not have to make any notch interferences (whatever this entails)?
  3. hi have a shoot planned for a short next month, plan to use 2x200t and 1x500t (stock not acquired yet) was wondering any super16 users in the uk, where they get process and telecine done, what prices etc? have shot 16mm once before but process and telecine was done for us by someone else. just a rough plan, thanks tom
  4. hi am still kind of new to super8 and because of this prefer to use the automatic exposure function on my nizo 801. was wondering if anyone knew if any exposure adjustments that MUST be made when using any of the following stocks with a nizo: - tri-x - plus-x - ektachrome - vision2 200t - vision2 500t in a way am hoping i can just put the cartridge in and just shoot away, keeping it simple thanks tom
  5. oliver - thanks, checked the website, and will give them a call tommorow. thanks for the advice. mark - sorry, what do you mean transfer at the wrong speed? it was shot 18 fps, not sure about telecine details - was done by the widescreen centre. was edited in 24fps. thanks for all help
  6. pretty sure your right. only shadowy or footage in the shade(or even indoor footage) can be seen. also checked the needle, and it doesnt move when going from dark to light. any ideas if it can be repaired or serviced? if so, where (in the uk if possible) and how much will this cost approximately? really dont want to give up on this again thanks for the help, tom
  7. a few months ago i posted on here , having overexposure issues with my nizo 801. i kindly got told to buy some new lightmeter batteries (and definitely bought the right ones). since then i decided to shoot some super8 abroad, in barcelona, and in krakow. altogether shot about 18 minutes of film, and got it all telecine'd by the widescreen centre. was unbelievably dissapointed and gutted when footage like this came back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b011rWkQqns out of 18 minutes of super 8, i got approximately 2.30 minutes worth of usable footage(which i have since edited into a film, and might post on here soon) the rest being completely overexposed (one whole tri-x roll was completely blank). the only usable footage was shot in shade, and not in open spaces. after losing out on all this footage (and the money!) i am extremely gutted. does anyone know what could have caused the footage to turn out like this???? thanks in advance tom.
  8. andy oliver - "was the camera indicating say f11 in full sun?, have you checked the iris blades are closing within the camera?" sorry, being new to this i have no idea what that means. the first time ive used super 8, i did the basic point and shoot without touching any settings, and the footage came out fine. but this is something i need to learn if i want to start using super8 more. i also looked at the base of the projector and it had nothing(no details) on the bottom. i have been told that it is a 75w 12v halogen lamp with a diachrome reflector. also have no idea what most of that means. michael lenhert - trying not to give up. just hoping that with new meter batteries in the camera, everything will turn out ok. plan on taking my camera and some film to barcelona in a few weeks, and hoping the footage doesnt come back the same as before. and yeah i caught the semi final, typical bbc. as long as the germans dont win in the final. personal grudge. richard tuohy - thanks, i have bought those batteries, and waiting for them in the post. just wondering, but how long do these batteries typically last? and for the bulb you mentioned, does it matter between 75w and 100w, ats ive been told by some people that its 75w, and 100w by others. also because am new to this, still have no idea about any of this "Do some bracketing of exposures + and - in 1/3rd of a stop increments from the reading given on auto (writing all the info on a card that is in shot!). Also, carefully set the eyepiece diopter then do some focus tests with the camera to see how well you set it. You could even 'bracket' with the eyepiece diopter to confirm correct setting." - sorry thanks for all help so far
  9. thanks, just bought the batteries. guess i'll try send the projector back. it came with a promising looking 'cine set' on ebay with a eumig mini3 servofocus super 8 camera, and an EV-1000 super8 editor viewer which i know nothing about.
  10. not sure, cant see any code on the bulb. for the nizo, would these meter batteries be ok? http://www.camcentre.co.uk/shop/index.php?...p;productId=44m
  11. sorry what bulb are you reffering to? projector? thanks for all help
  12. Thanks for all help much appreciated
  13. hi recently bought a braun nizo 801, my first super8 camera. have used this camera before, but was not mine, and the ektachrome when processed and sent back to me was fine. with my new nizo, i shot 2 rolls of e-64t and just got them back(processed) from the widescreen centre, and by just looking at the film they seem very overexposed, so much that you cant even see what has been shot. i then went to project it with my eumig mark 60, but the bulb has gone. typical. so a few questions - 1. any reason why both would have turned out like this? i checked the instructions for the nizo, and it says that it could be because of the meter batteries? has anyone came across this problem before? 2. if it is the batteries and they need replacing, the instructions state that i need to replace with 2 X 1.35volt mallory PX625 batteries. does it have to be 'mallory' batteries whatever that is, and are these batteries easily bought on the internet? also, if these bateries do get replaced, can i guarantee that the next time i shoot (barcelona hopefully) that the shots will be correclty exposed? this worries me as i dont have the largest bank balance in the world, and dont fancy waiting another 3 weeks to see how the footage has turned out. 3. also, ive tried looking for a bulb for my projector, but cant find any. anyone know where i can get a replacement bulb for a eumig mark 60? thanks in advance for any help, quite desperate to be honest much appreciated tom

  15. ok thanks just measured the film, 16mm it is. i will upload photos now.
  16. hi i know absolutely nothing about 16mm got given a 'chinon concord' camera, and again know nothing about it, what type of film it uses etc, was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it? thanks

  19. hi i have a smiliar question. in june i am flying from bristol to barcelona and intend to do some super 8 filming. i was wondering how the ektachrome 64t will react to the x-ray, and wether i should take it on as hand luggage, or baggage. thanks in advance
