  1. Hey, I was wondering if single perf film is the same as super 16 film. And if double perf film is the same as regular 16. Thanks
  2. I am new to film and was wondering if there was a leader at the end of a roll of film. I know there is a leader at the beginning of the roll so you can feed it through the camera, but what about once the roll is finished. Is the top layer of the take up film you shot, or is there a leader? If it is the film you shot, would you have to take the take up out in a black bag and put it in the can? Thanks a lot. -Nick
  3. Hey, I am new to using film and I am not sure what the differences are between a negative film stock and a reversal film stock? If you could help me out that would be great. Thanks a lot
  4. Hey, I am about to get my feet wet with 16mm and I am not sure what brand to go with. I know it is preference, but if you could give me your recommendations between Kodak and Fuji. I have a bolex right now and was looking at the Kodak 250T 7217 and the Fuji Eterna 250T. If there is a better film type for the bolex cameras, please let me know. (It is regular 16 not super.) Thanks a lot.
  5. Hey, I am looking in on getting a 16mm camera. Any pros and cons would be great, or advice on better cameras. I am looking at the package on visualproducts http://visualproducts.com/storeProductDeta...=17&Cat2=31 Thanks
  6. What arri cams in specific do you recommend? I am not assuming arri is the best, but what would you recommend for a first timer with film? If you have any recomendations for 8mm to let me know. Thanks
  7. Hey, I am looking in at purchasing a 16mm camera and have been looking at the 16mm camera from Pro8mm. I am not sure if anyone has heard anything about this camera or has used it, but if so, please let me know. Thanks
  8. I have always wondered why the lenses on most of the panavision lenses are so big. I am used to using a 35mm adapter with SLR lenses so I really have no clue. I want to know because I have seen some set ups using the 35 mm adapters using very large lenses. Thanks a lot.
  9. I was wondering if there was any way that you could tell if the day is going to have a really nice sunset. I mean with great color in the clouds and sky, a good sunset. Is there any way you can predict these or do you just have to hope that it will work in your favor? Same question for sunrises too. Thanks a lot.
  10. Can you put Kino Flo bulbs into a regular work light type bank?
  11. Hey, at my school we are getting some new fluorescent banks for our green screen. We are using work lamp and not professional banks, I know it's not that good, but it is all we can get for our budget. I know that fluorescents give off a different color so I was wondering if there is a gel we can put on the banks to help with the color correction and give a better green color to the green screen. Thanks a lot.
  12. What is the best way to get the videos on my own site though? Like, how do you approach that. If I have my own website and want to put a reel up on it, how should I do that?
  13. I am planning to put a reel up and I am trying to find out what is the best way to do it. Youtube, Google Video? or is there a much better, higher quality way to do it? Thanks a lot.
  14. Hey, thanks for reading. Right now I am beginning to apply for colleges and get to that step in my life. My passion is for film-making, so I really want to keep that going strong in my life. My question is whether to go to college and major in a Film degree of some kind or to get a degree in something else and do film-making on the side once I get going with that career. If you have any experience with this, if you went to film school, was it hard to support yourself with a degree in film, and also if I could get the other side where you didn't get a degree in film but still followed that type of path. Thanks a lot. -Nick
  15. Hey, I am doing a first time noir short. I don't have much experience with shooting in black and white. I'm shooting in digital, so if you have any suggestions or advice please feel free to let me know. Thank you -Nick
  16. I am in pre-production on a noir short. I have not really shot anything in black and white and I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice for light set ups, fog, etc. Any stories or anything will help. Thanks a lot. -Nick
