  1. I enquired and they sent me an email with a link to their application and price list. Oh my goodness. A half year of whatever they are selling goes for 15 to 20k, if you get one of their "50% off" grants. They mostly seem to be selling "screen credits." 15k gets a "standard" credit, 20k gets a "premium" credit. The operative idea they are selling seems to be if you buy a screen credit, you will have a career in the movies. I think most people will figure it out that it doesn't make much sense.

The local community college here in Los Angeles (LACC) has an excellent cinema department. They have their own soundstages and all the stuff that goes into them. Professors that also teach at very expensive private schools. A full time student will be out $180 a semester for tuition, or $720 for the whole 2 year program. They even have a track record of students that went on to write, direct and edit features I've heard of.

Like the old saying goes, there's one born every minute.

    thank you so much!

i cant fully understand what you are feeling, cuz ihavent been in that situation, im just about to start studying, but that part

you wrote ! i hate award" i mean, if you are good,, people will recognize you, so it kinda sounded to me like if you were scared of success, dont get me wrong tho

    good luck!

  3. Only thing that hasn't been mentioned which probably goes without saying - obviously, have at least one woman present, women ideally outnumbering men, at any audition or shoot involving female nudity.

    thats true

and besides, the actress needs to relate to the character

so she needs to feel atractive and confortable with her body

  4. I'm not sure if someone has already posted this, since I didn't read all the replies, but a lot of directors that are making feature films started their careers making TV commercials and music videos. Some of the biggest names like Michael Bay, the Scott brothers, Dominic Sena, Antoine Fuqua, Rob Cohen, Spike Jonze, Zach Snyder, David Fincher, etc started their careers this way. This trend started about 20 years ago. The producer who's been working the most with these directors is Jerry Bruckheimer, who hired them because of their visual styles and had confidence that they could tell a great story as well.

Maybe you want to do something similar. It'll give you the opportunity to make something not quite as big as a feature film, but very professional nonetheless. It's a great way to practice your skills and build up your reel. Now the question is, how do you become a director of TV commercials and music videos?

    i have the same question

how do you become a music videos director?

  5. Viviana,

What do you want to get out of film school and are you looking for a grad or undergrad program? Every school has its strengths and weaknesses. Some are strong in film theory and criticism, while others are strong in production. Some are better for making industry contacts, and others are better environments for artists and experimental filmmakers. And you also have to take into consideration the cost differences.

Hi, im looking for a grad. I think im more into production, but to be honest im still confused. I love San Francisco and if i can find a school i like and get a chance of going there, i totally would. After what you said, it sounds to me that the best choices are:

-San Francisco State University and Academy of Art

I agree with you that everything depends on the person, not the school. Doesnt matter if its expensive or not, you still gotta give the best of you. But, at least for me, im looking for a school that will make me feel confortable too.

Im thinking too about LA, the contacts are important wether i like it or not and well, Hollywood is there. Im guessing that if I o to a school there, i would be related to the "atmosphere" and that way when i finish my studies i wont feel completely lost. But all are just guessings.

    thanks for helping!!
