  1. So far on my cheap stock buying adventures I have aquired 3 400ft tins of Kodak Vision2 250D for £30 a tin unopened. I thought this was a pretty good deal, I bought it from some classifieds I saw, spoke to the guy over the phone, paid and got it all the next day. Now I am looking at some Fuji stock on Ebay. 4 x 200ft tins of Fuji f-250 unopened for £38 delivered from Bulgaria. I emailed to ask if it had been stored in fridge but have not had a response. Would it really be worth buying this and then forking out for dip tests or should I wait for something better? I have given up on the chase for shortends and recans as I have come up empty after ringing round. Nobody seems to have any even to sell.
  2. Thanks for your replies. The script is not non-standard as such and at a glance looks like any other film script. I just have a feeling there maybe some bits that are not conforming to the standard. I have thought about what you have said and discussed it with my peers but I do not think the film can be any shorter than 15 minutes. I have typed up the first 6 pages in Final Draft and believe I have just finished 'the beginning' and I am a few lines into 'the middle'. I believe the story and characters are strong enough to carry 15 minutes. I have a quick question though that I cannot find an answer to. In the screenplay there are settings with the same name. For example EXT. STREET - NIGHT How do I get around this? I also have 2 scenes in houses would I have to use the owners name to differentiate them in the script for example INT. BEN'S HOUSE/LIVING ROOM - DAY? Thanks for your help all!
  3. I have decided to undergo my first large, serious project. A short film (15min) that I hope to enter into national festivals. The film will be shot on hopefully a CP16R using around 2400ft of various film stocks to give a (limited) shooting ratio of 4:1 At the moment while I push on to find equipment (I have a large portion of the film stock but just recieved a horribly broken CP16), I am focussing on finalizing my script from all my various drafts etc. I have a few questions about this. Is 15 minutes a good length for a festival aspiring short film? The script has a fair amount of foul language but for good reason due to its content. Does this deter festival organisers? I am using Final Draft and am sticking to proper script formatting. However some parts may not be written in the perfect way. Does this matter a whole lot since I will not be selling the script? I probably have a ton more questions but I'm too tired to think. Its 2:30am, I got carried away writing and have to be up at 7:30am. Thanks for any advice.
  4. I live in the UK but would happily pay postage. Camera must be in good working condition. PM me with any details. Thanks. Ron
  5. Well it turns out the dog leg was completely severed from the mount and therefore would costs $400 in repairs. I am sorting out shipping it back and getting a refund now. :(
  6. If anyone has one for sale or knows of one up for sale, in good condition. Please PM me. I live in the UK and would be willing to pay shipping charges. Thanks, RON
  7. So I bought a CP16A from America and the Lens came with the 'dog leg' un attached. I cannot figure out how I attach it properly to the little mount. I have attached the picture of the bits. http://img408.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0283qi9.jpg Cheers All.
  8. Ok so I will probably need some 500T film for indoor use but I am going to buy a 100ft spool of 250d for a 1st test roll so I will see how that fairs indoors with different settings etc just for my own curiosity if not anything else. Now for the outdoor night scenes. Would I use 500T for this? I was under the assumption that using tungsten balanced film would give the film an unatural look without the use of filters or is just with daylight? I am really also only looking to buy very cheap stock. Although I do not see much, if any 500T on the second hand market I do see a lot of the 250 Fuji tungsten balanced stuff. What would this stuff be like in low light, outdoor, nightime conditions? As it seems I won't be getting my hands on any 500T anytime soon.
  9. Hi, so I am currently at University doing a film course and have decided to start making my own 16mm short for hopefully, festival showings. So I am in the middle of my screenplay and I have purchased a CP16 that has had an overhaul by Whitehouse Visual. Also I saw a great deal on the internet where I got 3 sealed 400ft rolls of Kodak Vision 2 250d for around 30 pounds a roll, I think half a year old and kept in a fridge. So I have some nice stock for the outdoors scenes but I am starting to write in some indoor scenes and also a few nightime scenes. I am a complete newbie regarding this type of stuff and I am not sure what stock I would use for these scenes? Would 250d be ok for general averge lit indoor scenes? There will be no extra lights brought in so it will all be standard house lighting. The night scene looks to be hard as well. The quality has to be good as the the characters facial expressions are key due to a lack of dialogue. I cannot see any film that os recommended for low light shoots expect stocks ending with t, which I believe is tungsten balanced for use with studio lights. Which I will not be using. Any advice for a guy? Also I have the 3 tins of 250d coming tomorrow, is it better to store in the fridge or freezer? Thanks,
