  1. When I researched purchasing the lens, The same single unit out of polish EBay came up as the only alternative, but 3 years later it's still there. I smell a scam or something of the sort. Does anybody ever seen something similar to it?

    Same case?

Why such difference? What does this difference mean?

  2. I'm no expert on the matter, but I can assure you there's a difference between the iscorama adaptors and the iscorama lens made for nikon mount.

the adaptors are meant to be used with regular lenses as long as the filter's diameter and coverage allow it. The iscorama pret-a-porter is a unit consisting of 2 parts. the mount side has a few elements and f-stop ring only (no focusing ring), while the anamorphic (front) part has an element that protrudes so far back as to be impossible to use on any other regular lens.

So, are you implying that the model you have simply doesn't screw into the filter threads of the camera lens?

  3. Yet about facts, here's another one:

I've just watched, last night [ LINK ], a short [ LINK 2 ] made by a former student not from the traditional official filmschool but outside [ LINK 3 ]. Never in Portugal, a northern student could have the opportunity to shoot in 35mm till now without to go to the big town as I did myself in order to conclude my four-years BFA in Directing and Editing before dreaming with a 35mm camera.

Yesterday night, a short 35mm shot was 1st part of...

    Shot with Red?

  4. So, rather than ever having a Red design stabilized and totally de-bugged, it appears owners will be forever enticed to upgrade to a more advanced design in a similar state of flux, for fear of being left behind technologically.

    Wait a minute - isn't that what they call a "Red Queen's Race"? :P

    From Wikipedia:

The Red Queen's race is an incident that appears in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass and involves the Red Queen, a representation of a Queen in chess, and Alice constantly running but remaining in the same spot.

"Well, in our country," said Alice, still panting a little, "you'd generally get to somewhere else ? if you run very fast for a long time, as we've been doing."

"A slow sort of country!" said the Queen. "Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!"

    Get a life dude!

  5. I think the point being made was that just because there are more cameras of a particular type/brand that's not the only reason to use it.

Usual quaifications for a RED thread: there are many cameras out there, use the one that works best with your budget and telling your story.

I understood very well the dude. I just think he's a silly poster, posting silly attacks to try to diminish Red. No less.

  6. I mean, for every RED that has been sold there would be thousands of mini DV cameras sold.

So on this basis, Hollywood should switch to Mini DV?

    Silly point. Apples to oranges.
