  1. never mind, ceasar answered my question. Im not going to waste my money on overpriced overrated underperforming cameras. I leave that the pro's. Thanks for your help in showing me that conventional cameras just arent made for real filmmaking.
  2. What about the silicon imaging SI-2k? I couldnt find anything about it having gen-lock on their site, but P+S Techick Stereo Mounts are made for one. Anyone know anything about that camera? It was also suggested that the Sumix 12A2c, which is more like a streaming webcam in its design, could be sync'd using software, instead of relying of genlock to sync the internal mechanics of a regular camera, and it would be well within my price range. I wouldnt have any problem using 60p mode to simulate slo-motion if it were not for the fact that i dont think it could be done without ugly motion blur and frame blending, but i could be wrong.
  3. Ive done my research and have determined that these are my absolute requirements: true 24p mode (not 48i) (at least) true 120p mode (not 240i) genlock for multicam synchronization I guess im going to have to rent what camera this turns out to be because it will probably be in the tens of thousands, so in a way price is not an issue so much as i have a few options to choose from when i search every rental house for a pair of them. I suppose if there were some list containing every genlock camera i could figure it out for myself, but i havent had any luck finding such a thing so i still need advice in finding the right one.
  4. I too would like to know what canon means by "F". Since your shooting 1080i 24f, i would assume they just use f as short for fps, as in your shooting 48i 1080, which is technically 24fps interlaced. If your shooting at 24fps, and i assume you plan on getting your film telecined, which means it will get a pulldown (unless otherwise requested), then you will be editing with 29.97i footage, so yes, your mixer should be recording at 29.97, or as they call it, NTSC dropframe. However if your editing at 24fps and plan to do a pulldown at the end, then i cant honestly give you advice because i dont understand how the 'framerate' of audio works. I wouldnt reccommend letting telecine apply pulldown and then you removing it, your just throwing away resolution for no reason. If you plan on doing any rotoscoping, always work in progressive.
  5. Ok, got a copy of it and found out it was slowed down 5x (500%), if the video is at 30fps, so im assuming this was shot at 150fps. Now when your doing slo-mo shots like this at high framerates, is it better to shoot progressive or interlaced? For say i shot at 60p, would it essentially be like shooting at 120i?
  6. This is a question i needed answering to help find the right camera (posted in another thread) that didnt get answered, so i hope this is a more appropriate forum to post it in. What framerate do you think this was shot at? FYI, you might not want to watch this at work, its a little risque. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P3Wc-37pC4#t=8m20s (The link should bring you to the correct time, but if not, just skip to the 8:20 mark.)
  7. Thanks you all for the information, this is really helping me out. This is what im talking about when i say 'rap video slo-mo' : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P3Wc-37pC4#t=8m19s What framerate would you say they shot that at? I still really need help finding the most economical 24p/48i-capable genlocking camera that will enable me to shoot something like this, so dont give up on me yet! And if its beyond my price range, ill either find the money, or rent.
  8. Im looking to shoot with a stereoscopic setup and i have 10k to spend on two digital cameras and equipment needed to sync them. Im wanting to shoot the whole production in 24p (p as in true progressive, no in camera deinterlacing tricks) but i also need the capability to film a scene in slo-mo (think rap video slo-mo), can i achieve this in post with just 24p, or do i need to shoot in a higher framerate? What framerates do rap videos usually shoot in to get that effect? Does shooting interlaced help produce those smooth temporal effects? That info would really help me out in finding a camera on my own, but i'll take any suggestions if you know of a camera that would fit my needs.
