  1. I have recently been offered to shoot a low budget feature (12k, 12 day shoot). It doesn't pay much, and I am really torn on shooting it. I will have to provide all my own camera gear (my DSLR Kit), and the lighting kit is very small and limiting (an arri light kit with about 4 lights, barely any grip/support gear).

I have recently been getting bigger and bigger jobs, some with grip trucks. I am worried that on this shoot, I will be limited both by the expertise of my crew, which will likely be barely paid, as well as the lighting package. Can anyone chime in on this?

Is it worth having a super low-budge feature under your belt? Or no?

  2. Hi

In India digital film making is picking up, and it's a good sign. I feel we Indians can do better movies if we improve technically. More and more technicians should upgrade to new technology. Many small countries are very much ahead of us technically and content wise too.

Our Youngsters should think beyond money making.

Here is an opportunity if somebody looking for a break.

For our production house ( I'm an Editor there) we are looking for a young but talented friendly budding cinematographer for regional movie. if there are guys who are working as assistants and looking for a break in feature film can send me their demo link to pass it on to the director.

    Let's make a nice group.

  3. Hi,

I am making a short film in Kerala (south India) in June 2010. It will be great if you have equipments and be willing to travel within the state. There is plenty of sunlight in the state even though we might be hitting onset of Monsoon in early June. Please reply back with your reel/resume and I would look forward to hear from you. We will be filming traditional temple arts both visual and vocal, back waters, life and culture from the perspective of a man who misses his motherland.

    Thanks

In case you have worked on similar shoots before and if you are willing to travel to India for the shoot, do get in touch with us and mail us your showreels (incl. the outdoor shots) at niraj@lighthousemumbai.com.
