Looks like it was typically over priced (Being Chroszeil) $1695!!!
But also top quality (Being Chroszeil)
Released in 2005 so not that old really and looks like a decent set up for HDSLR?

The Nikon 50 - 300 f4.5 doesn't telescope
and it's parfocal which is probably what you're after.
Weighs 2.3kg and it's quite long though.
The Non-ED version occasionally goes for ~£150 GBP on ebay ED versions are ~£500 but not entirely uncommon.
Seems to tick all the boxes.

I've bought the Panasonic M4/3 lenses - 14mm , 20mm , 14-42. I don't quite get the lens biz but having the autofocus is a really useful - depending on what you're shooting.
