  1. Dear Filmmakers, What are the key and most important factors in creating a more saturated Image. One that is more saturated, vibrent, and contrasty when shooting with a home DV camcorder. Please give me discriptive advice. Please give me honest, discriptive replys. I would really appreciate it Thank You very much in Advance Constantine
  2. Dear Filmmakers, I am a student and have a couple of questions. This has been bugging me for a while. If I purchase a full blue CTB rosco cinegel will it make things look blue in color or will it be close to matching daylight coming thru a window? To me it seems that when you use a CTB gel it gives actual blue color but daylight from a window looks white how do I get a white color temp using a CTB gel? And finally what is a basic definition of negative fill? Please help me by giving me honest helpfull replys. Thank You in advance. Constantine

  4. I figured out that digital video has fast shutter speeds anyway. I needed it for a commercial of crisp sharp wet fruit hitting the table and being sliced. It all looked so dreamlike and tropical
  5. Please explain the following: What is narrow shutter angle, fast shutter speed and slow shutter speed? What does shutter speed have to do with a fast and slow lens and what is a fast/slow lens? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY Is there any way I can creat a faster shutter speed other than using the actual shutter speed like the exposure, lens, or focus because I really need to create a fast and narrow shutter but I am using a home DV camera that only controls exposure, lens (wide-tele), and focus. Please help me out. Thank you very much
  6. Thanks did you try enlarging the pics because so far thats the best quality I can get. Constantine
  7. Use a lens hood to prevent the sun spilling into the lens. Use a ND for exposure problems do not shoot with light hiting directly from the front onto the subjects face.
  8. Dear Filmmakers, I am a begginer and made a few films using a home DV camera. What do you think of these screen shots from one of my music videos. Since these are screen shots they are not very sharp. In the shot with the two girls and the trees in the BG I used a 300w par behing the trees to creat the effect of sunlight peering from a jungle. Then I bounced the light from the par onto there faces from a angle to creat a soft broad light that looked good on them. Please give me honest helpfull replys mostly to do with lighting issues. Thank you very much in advance. :) Sincerely, Constantine
  9. Dear Alvin, Thank You very much. Im am just starting out so I am trying to absorb as much information as I can. This means allot to me. Sincerely, Constantine :)
  10. :) To acheive a soft less bright light shoot the light at a piece of white or reflective poster so it bounces of the board onto the subject. It will make the brightness of the light decrease and make a softer and broader light that is great for lighting faces. Play around with the distance of the light and the way it hits the faces. Also decrease the exposure using the exposure control button or purchase a nuetral density filter to decrease the amount of light hitting the lens. Great questions Constantine
  11. Dear filmmakers, I remember watching a commercial about tropical fruit. The DP had created a tropical mistic look with wet fruit hitting a table and being sliced. It looked like the background was white and out of focus, the fruit was sharp and crisp and the water on them was very sharp and visible, it all looked slowed down and blurry in some areas. I really need to know how to get an a effect close to that using a home DV camera. What type of background, shutter, lens, and lighting would be required. I understand that this is a long difficult question but I would really appreciate a honest helpfull reply. :( Thank you very much in advance. Sincerely, Constantine
  12. :o Dear filmmakers, In the movie collateral how did the DP light the int. of the car, to me it seemed to have a greenish tint that looked real nice? I would like to get the same effect in one of my music videos should I use a filter, some gels on the lights or some kind of a post prod procedure. Please give me a honest helpfull reply I am only a begginer. Thank you very much in advance. Sincerely, Constantine :)
