Got Infinity focus!

Can't believe I got this lens enough away from the shutter but I did.

After removing the collar of course, it's just a matter of filing down the sides of the little lens that pops out.

Don't be like me and try to glue it in though, there's a whole seperate story involving off gassing of glue and other complications. Just tape it with something that barely catches it.

Jay, I'm jealous you have a 25mm lens, that's what I need next, but good luck, it can be done!

Yeah I also understand I could put some kind of teleconverter/concave lens between my camera and the Schneider lens which theoretically should let me focus to infinity, though it would be trial and error involving extension tubes, a rinky dink masking tape thing with loss of light, etc. I wouldn't care about increased focal distance since 10mm is super wide as it is.

Might be fun to get a hold of a cheap one just to see if I can get that lens to back off the shutter somehow, to get infinity, so I don't have to mess with the actual lens much.

I just don't know all the calculations involved. I'll post my results though.

An interesting side note: a modern canon ef lens has a bayonet rear which fits in my CP mount, albeit with tape. It doesn't sit back close enough for a normal FFD, but any Canon lens becomes a good close up lens for cheap...!

I've got a Schneider Arri 10mm 1.8 lens with an Arri to CP adapter attached w/ grub screws. After seeing that the rear element touches the shutter partway to focusing towards infinity, I removed the back collar (with help from Jean Louis), hoping to get it closer, which it did, a little. Still no infinity!

The back little lens just pops out. I'm wondering if I at this point I should just glue it in and dremel down the edge of the ring of that little back lens to get that last 0.5mm closer or whatever it is I need.

The rear element is pretty much kissing the shutter so I feel like I have nothing to lose at this point. Ideas/suggestions?

It now seems obvious that the cost of guessing based on all these factors for the first amount of film I'd see is about the cost of a light meter.

Now hopefully I'll be able to factor in the 1/55 shutter speed...

I hear this can be done since I'm too cheap to buy a proper light meter to shoot stuff on my CP-16R.

The idea is to go ahead and take the reading digitally (since I'm already shooting that way too as a back-up) with my Canon 60d then maybe open up a half or full stop to account for an old zoom lens then shoot.

Any thoughts on why this might not work or might be fine?

Adapters weren't fitting at first cause I just needed to bring the screws in a little with an Allen wrench. Got it figured out.

I really love this little camera although I suppose as all the integrated circuits slowly give out, the numbers of CP-16 warriors shall slowly dwindle.

I don't care, I got a freezer full of film I'm hoarding, gonna shoot a teaser and feature this year somehow anyway.

Don't know if this question belongs in Lenses or CP 16 category.

The good news is I just got a CP-16R for dirt cheap, it has at least one good battery and charger, seems to have been serviced recently, and the seller even included aa array b and arri s adapter. Pretty thrilled.

The bad news is I have no lens right now, can't even seem to "fit" the adapters into the CP mount just to see them in there (guess I'll need some tiny grub screws too), and I see how dismal the selection of affordable lens choices are out there (I know why, BMPCC buyers got to them first)

A little spooked by all the info re: backs of Arri lenses hitting mirrors, lenses not really working with cheaper adapters, etc. and wondering if I should just play it safe and wait for the right CP mount lens to show up on eBay, etc. I know I can carefully test an array s lens by using the inching nob.

Guess I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing?

I'll get an adapter part way in and then the other part won't go in. These were tested by Duall in NY so supposedly they're good.

If anyone has an idea what I'm doing wrong....

Also, any opinion on the Canon C 16 12-120 Fluorite (CP mount) lens?

Seems kind of a bargain and doesn't look bad on video tests.
