  1. You could look for fishing rod tubes. You can get hard or soft. Here's a 48" example: https://www.amazon.com/Plano-4448-Fabric-Green-48-Inch/dp/B009YSFW98/

    Another option for hard tubes is getting PVC pipe and end caps from your local hardware store and cut to length. Just make sure you get the right size. 

    @Joe Tese's rifle case suggestion is also great if you're looking to get more than one light per tube. That's how I transport my boompole and accessories.

  2. One thing I have learned is that lighting a cyc with bounce light can save you a lot of trouble vs trying to shoot lights directly at it and getting an even spread. Even when the lights are going through diffusion and what not. Having a lot of 8'x8' v-boards/foam core, along with lights strong enough to bounce effectively, is incredibly useful. White side walls and/or ceiling can be useful for bouncing as well.
