Hmm, well it's not in the script. It's very cold. icey even. It's supposed to be Ireland in December! The exterior I shot was dry but very chilly.

I have been trying to get this scene for a while now! I'm hopeless with lighting set-ups and I'd appreciate some help. The scene is set at about 8am in a bedroom in deepest winter (so still dark). Outside the bedroom window is a streetlight (kind of orange). I started the sequence with an exterior shot so I'd like to keep some continuiety. I was thinking lighting it mostly blueish with an orange light behind a piece of board where I've cut strips to duplicate blinds. This should give me a nice colour contrast. The room is about 20ftx10ft. White walls. The main character is waking up from sleep. He's wearing a yellow t-shirt, and I would like this to show on the film against the blue background. I have light gels and some lights. I work for a TV company and I have access to some lighting equiptment you see. How do I position the lights to get an exposure yet not blast out the darkness? The film is being shot on Super8, with a canon 814 AZ. If I can get away with it I'd like to use Kodakrome 40. Can anyone give me some advice?

well i'm in the middle of making a short - no funding. There's a scene on a bridge at night. The walkway is about 100ft long and is well lit by yellow, sodium street lights. I have to film two figures mostly in close up but some long shots. They walk from opposite sides of the bridge and pass each other in the middle. That's it. It's in the middle of a busy city centre, and I have zero budget! My camera is a canon 814 AZ.

Hey everyone, I've been reading this forum for ages now and I've learned so much, so thanks right off!! I work in tv, so i've been using various forms of DV. I've always loved the look of film and I've started now with super8. Have any of you guys made the same start? Currently I'm finding it a nightmare to light stuff! Encouragement please!!
