Dan Katz

Daniel Katz was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and emigrated to the US at the age of four. He grew up in San Francisco with exposure to Azerbaijani, Armenian, Russian/Soviet, Jewish, and American culture, all of which have influenced his creative thinking and interest in shooting around the world.

At the age of 17, Daniel shot his first 16mm short film which he screened at a film festival he founded at his high school, which led him to get a BA in Film at the London College of Communication and eventually an MA in International Studies & Diplomacy in London.

Since that time, he has directed a reality TV series in Azerbaijan (Ideya Qazandi), was the DP on the documentary E.L.I. for Gabriel Beristain, and has directed and shot numerous narrative films, documentaries, music videos, and commercials on everything from Super 16 to a Hasselblad H6D-100 to a Large Format 9x11" sensor 4K camera.
