David- by "under key", are you referring to the stop on your lens (T2.8 for example) which you are referring to as "key"? If so, are you saying the brightest area of the image would read around a T2.8 if using a light meter? with everything else falling below. . .

good thing you didn't buy superspeeds. you could have used them for years and then profited $20k by selling them today for $60k.
