Yes, unfortunately you’ll have to find someone good with repairing electronics. A chip needs to be replaced most likely. Or, bring it to Sony where they’ll simply replace the whole circuit board for about $1500US ?

Has anyone seen this problem where their control panel has gone blank and unresponsive and yet still powers up?

As an actual stills photographer, I would say knowing and being good at stills is a good starting point for a cinematographer but cinematography in general is much MORE than still photography: motion (camera, light, subject and background) and the capture of it is more complex than simply a series of stills. You have to be cognizant of the interaction of all 4 in your scene and how they can be best arranged for maximal effect for the story you are trying to tell.

I'm a stills photographer here in Vancouver where not that many productions occur as in LA and it took proof of 120 days of on set experience and submission of my portfolio for those 120 days in order to get into IATSE 669. Plus, that on set experience can only be from theatrically released features or television dramas. No shorts, commercials, or music videos.

Way tougher than getting into IATSE 600!
