  1. I have 2 codex onboard m recorders (Cdx-3010) and 8 256gb drive packs, but no reader. I was thinking about seeing if anyone had a desktop reader (Cdx-5500) for sale. I'm also open to offers for the recorders if I can't find a reader of my own. The Codex M recorder can record uncompressed or wavelet cinema quality HD material plus audio and metadata onto a single, removable data pack. When shooting is done, it offloads material much faster than real-time. Can record 4:4:4 and ARRIRAW. Was designed with the Alexa in mind and was used in many feature films. Would love to use t
  2. I was planning on purchasing a Shogun Flame for the my A7RII before I heard of the new release of the Ninja Inferno, they both supply the XLR Phantom power I was looking to add my my recorder (why ninja flame wasnt an option) From what I can see the biggest difference is that the Shogun has a SDI input and output and the Ninja can record up to 60FPS at 4K, neither of which seem apply to the A7RII but I guess would depend on which of the two is more useful for future projects with different cameras. Is there anything I'm not taking into account for A7 series users? I also read today by a B&
  3. I’ve got something I’ve been wondering for over and over this past weekend! I read that downscailing from 4K to HD can produce the equivalent of 10-bit luma. Like to say: 8bits 4K = 10bits HD. Is that in fact true? how is it possible? the GH4 records externally 10bits 4:2:2, the Sony A7 II with an external recorder only 8bit 4:2:0, so I wonder I shoot with the Atomos Shogun (not real 4K but UHD I think) and then I downscale it to to I get a true 10bits 4:2:2, with S-Log3, nicer to grade with, that would work cos of 8bits 4K=10bits HD? or it doesn't work this way?
  4. hello guys! I might be shooting my first low budget feature film as DOP, I'm so excited about it, I won't get paid but the expenses, but I think it's alright as I finally get the chance to work on a first feature. The director owns a Nikon D7200 and wants to use it for the shooting, and I can't make him change his mind. It shoots 4:2:0 8bit internally, so I suggested him to work with an external recorder like the Atomos Ninja 2 to record ProRes and 4:2:0. My question is if anyone has some experience with this camera, I'd love to hear, I believe you can always learn so much from
  5. using the A7s, anyone shot Pro Res with the Atomos Shogun, UHD 4:2:2 ? any personal opinion on that? how's the signal through the HDMI output? thanks!
