Best Export Settings for Super 8
Aaron Razi posted a topic in Super-8Hey all. Just got my new roll of E-6 Ekta back and I am really happy with it. It looks pretty great on the projector, but of course, it looks a little bit less great on the scan. I did some color work on Adobe Premiere Pro and was wondering what the best export settings would be. In the future, I'd like to share the footage on some social media, but I fear the quaint grain of Super 8 will become gross and bitty once compressed on these platforms. What are the best settings to prevent that from happening? Right now, I'm working with a 1080p scan, at 50 CBR and Rendering at the Maximum Depth, and a frame rate of 15fps. Thanks so much.
What do these settings indicate? (DEDOLIGHT DLH4)
Megan Bryan posted a topic in LightingHi, I'm fairly new to this forum so hopefully, I'm writing this query in the right place. For my dissertation, I completed a test using Dedolight DLH4's (The 3 head kit) and I used the dimmer switch to adjust the intensity of the light. I was wondering what the dots represent on the dimmer switch? I've attached an image below for reference. I was hoping to find a numerical value as so far my research has only found this indicating 'dimming from minimum to maximum'. Any information or guesses are greatly appreciated and hopefully, someone can shed some light on this!! Thank you.
Bradley Roberts posted a topic in General DiscussionHi all, I was recently introduced to the wide range of image profile (dynamic range) options on industry cameras. I understand that a low dynamic range gives you less tonal range and high gives you higher, but under what circumstances would you want a lower dynamic range versus higher? I was also told that you have to be an experienced colour grader to shoot high dynamic range, can anyone shed light on this? Thanks.
This quick tutorial will teach you a very simple technique to batch export multiple clips from Adobe Premiere Pro and CC. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Stefano Stroppa posted a topic in General DiscussionI'm a little confused on how to play with the gamma setting for the lower part of the curve. what's the difference between BLACK LEVEL and BLACK GAMMA and MASTER PED in camera settings? what the relationship with noise? if for instance I want to change the setting of my camera so as to see more into the shadows (without taking into account any color correction in post) I set (just as an example) black level at -2 master ped at +2 so as to lower the contrast black gamma (that alters the whole shape of the gamma curve in its toe) at +2 to brighten the image am I right? my question is: how does noise react to this new setting?
Timeline/Import/Capture settings for DVX100B in 24p NormalHi just found this board and am looking for some good advice. Anyway I have a question(s) and concern in regards to video capturing and exporting. I will try to give as much info as I can, if there is anything else you need to know, please let me know. I just got done with a film shoot for a (hip-hop/rap)music video in a club scene setting using a Panasonic DVX100B(24p normal, 16x9 Letterbox), Canon XL2 (24p 16x9), and a Canon DSLR Camera (HD Video recording). A few scenes were shot in 60i with the XL2 for slow motion purposes later in edit. I have not shot in 24p before and it was recommended for this type of shoot by many I spoke to give that feel we were wanting. Keep in mind the Panasonic was camera A. Both the Panasonic and the Canon are tape driven cameras. The main question(s) I have is what are the import settings I should set on Adobe Premiere Pro (CS3) for capture each camera video footage? What should be the proper settings for the timeline, etc and what are the export settings as this will be used for both online purposes and TV purposes? I would like to know what is the best steps in getting the highest quality video we are needing for the end product which will be for purposes of online(youtube, worldstarhiphop, vimeo, etc) and TV also. So if you have experience with this I would appreciate your input (and help). Any additional recommendations for this type of video are also welcome. Please keep in mind I have never shot(nor edited) in 24p and am very confused on this. Hopefully someone who has experience with the setup can help. When I capture the video right now, it seems grainy, but when viewed in the LCD on the camera looks clean and crisp. Somewhere I am having video loss and not sure what I am doing wrong and I think it is in my settings. Also if you need any additional info, I can provide for you. Thanks for your help! J
