FNG to filmmaking

I'm a 21 year old Marine and I get out of my beloved Corps in just under a year. My goal in life is to make it as a director and to produce all these crazy ideas in my head. The problem is that much of this decision was made after I joined the military so when all my friends headed to college to, ironicly, do what I actually wanted to do all along, I was left behind a bit.

Basically, I know absolutely nothing about this field. I just need a little bit of a crash course and Ill be running in no time.
