Sony Training on HD Cameras, your opinion?

I'm thinking of taking a 4 day course next week to get myself certified on Sony's pro line of HD cameras.

Here's the course catalogue; https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-training-search.aspx

Is it worth it? I could really use some brutally honest opinions here.

I've done camera ops before, but I'm not a video engineer, much less a DP. And I know next to nothing about servicing and color balancing a Cine Alta.

None of you people have been to Sony to get trained on their F series?

Nope, not at those prices. In the olden days, the rental houses would teach you for free, just so you'd be a happy customer and not bust their stuff. ;-)

Thanks John. It seemed pricey to me too, but I thought it might be worth it to get a certificate of somekind from the equipment manufacturer. Ah well :)

Last I checked Lee Utterbach (the local film rental house in San Francisco) wasn't renting digital equipment as yet. I used to know a couple of their techs many years back, but lost contact with them. One of them wanted to sell me an Arri III :P

I guess I'm gong to have to go about it the old fashioned way.
