maponterios
Hello all; I'm working on a commercial using the 900 owned by the producers. Apparently the camera breaks timecode anytime it is shut down/turned off. Apparently they seem to have found a fix by hitting the return button everytime the camera is turned on. I've been working with this camera for sometime now (3.5 years) and never heard of this. Could this be a problem with their Post (edit) machines/Decks? Thanks in advance for any comments. Mitch Gross
This is what one needs to do on any video camera. The tape is unthreaded from the heads during shutdown and when rethreaded may be at a slightly different spot, which will result in a timecode break. Hitting the RET button is a very good thing and should be down whenever restarting the camera.
maponterios
Thanks for the hint Mitch. I know usually it is a good thing, but never was put in the position of "having to do it". No editor has ever complained to me about timecode breaking in the last 3 years. I guess it is a good thing to do anyways. I was also trying to figure out if their post equipment was having trouble reading the TC from the 900. thanks! Ma
