Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted January 23, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted January 23, 2006 Hi, I have in my hand a GY-HD100 as part of a writeup I'm doing for Showreel. If anyone's got any particular questions, please ask... and buy the next issue for the answers! Phil
Mitch Gross
Check out the ergonomics. I found the shape a bit uncomfortable and when resting on my shoulder the ear piece landed more than an inch in front of my ear. And test out the effects of their "two-part" sensor, whereby people see a green line right down the middle of the frame, sometimes even with the gain at 0db. The Focus Assist function was a bit odd but I got used to it after a bit. A little like an old rangefinder camera, but with colors. Don't know if you can get hold of a Mini35 and lenses for it (alas, no Optex to go to), but it supposedly offers a great improvement over the stock lens. Maybe JVC or Fuji would let you test the wide angle zoom.

If anyone's got any particular questions, please ask... and buy the next issue for the answers! Phil Hi Phil- I'm debating purchasing the camera, and have had a hard time getting decent info. Please let me know when the article comes out and where to get it. Any way of contrasting a scene shot on the HD100 at 720p at 24fps and one shot 1080i at the Sony "24fps"? How much loss of resolution and which appears more filmlike overall.. Also how does the image compare next to say a 1/2" chip GY-DV5000 on SD mode? Thanks and have fun! Phil I would be very interested to see how the JVC's HDV footage holds up in post (color correction and exporting to after effects etc)? -matt
