sébastien buchmann
Have you ever done an home-made tape to film transfert ? I did once, a long time ago (10 years !) and it was great. But techniques have changed a lot and labs have improved their transferring. Now they do it very well even with simple DV. I wonder if it's worth it nowdays. Any experiences would be helpfull. Thanks, Sebastien Buchmann DoP, France
Sean McHenry
I have a little secret I'll share with the community here. I used to sell broadcast equipment and 3M has this rear projection material that's rigid and very good called Vicuity. They offer a nice small sized demo of the material to anyone who fills out the form on their web site. Comes with a little stand for demoing the material with a projector. See where this is going... I am going to see how good a simple TC is for my Super 8 footage to my Sony PDX-10 DVCam camera as soon as it arrives. Any good camera with variable shutter speeds might work well for this. I'll have to check the PDX-10 manual for shutter speeds at 1/48th. Worth a try for doing it inexpensivly.
