Guest filmguy
I just purchased the sekonic L-398 M. It's kind of old school. But I have a question. I'm using an aaton XTR. Does the shutter angle affect my use of the light meter? I dial in the ISO film speed. And I thought I was supposed to reference that number on the cine scale with the 24 fps in order to find my aperture. Is this correct? Should I be reading it differently. I think the shutter angle on the camera is 180.
Jamie Metzger
Your shutter angle definately effects your exposure. Look for your manual online.
Robert Hughes
The Sekonic L-398 has a reading for cine 24fps cameras running about 180 degrees shutter opening. Adjust for your shutter angle and camera speed accordingly. Also, check the reading accuracy of your lightmeter against a known good one; my older L-398 was a full stop off. Have you shot a film test yet?
