Kodak Hosts Cinematography Discussion

Kodak will sponsor the annual cinematography seminar at the Berlinale Talent Campus, as well as demonstrate the newest version of the company's Look Manager System during the 56th Berlin International Film Festival here from February 9-19. The Kodak exhibit at the European Film Market will be located in the Martin-Gropius-Bau at Niederkirchner Straße 7.

 

Sophie Maintigneux will discuss her body of cinematography work during a seminar at the Fourth Annual Berlinale Talent Campus. The Campus selects 500 young filmmakers from all over the world to attend workshops, share ideas and mingle with international filmmakers. The seminar will be held February 16 at the House of World Cultures theatre.

 

"Kodak has been a part of the Berlinale Talent Campus since its inception to help provide the next generation of filmmakers with opportunities to learn from cutting-edge filmmakers while forming relationships with their peers from around the world," says Thierry Perronnet, marketing director for Kodak's Entertainment Imaging Division in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

 

The Berlinale Talent Campus is a weeklong program running February 11-16. It attracts participants from around the world, and explores all aspects of filmmaking, including cutting-edge technology, creative tools, stylistic trends, future markets and philosophical perspectives. Charlotte Rampling, Wim Wenders, Park Chan-wook, Christopher Doyle, Anthony Dod Mantle, Stephen Warbeck, and editors Jim Clark and Angie Lam will conduct additional seminars.

 

Maintigneux has compiled nearly 30 credits in the past 20 years ranging from documentaries and television series to feature films. Her feature credits include Liebe und Verlangen, Liebe auf den ersten Blick (Love at First Sight) and the award-winning film L' Amour, l'argent, l'amour (Love, Money, Love), among others. Maintigneux's documentary credits include Schattenväter, Gotteszell - Ein Frauengefängnis and Damen und Herren ab 65. She earned a German Camera Award and a Best Cinematography Award at the Leipzig DOK Festival for the latter film.

 

The company will also demonstrate version 2.0 of the KODAK Look Manager System (KLMS) during the Berlinale Talent Campus. The system enables cinematographers to previsualize, create, communicate and manage subtle nuances in film looks from preproduction through postproduction.

 

KODAK Look Manager Version 2.0 includes many new features including a user-friendly interface, with an enhanced project-oriented approach. For the first time, 3-D look up tables (LUTs) can be applied to images and exported, giving post facilities a scientific reference and communications component for eliminating guesswork involved with recreating visuals as intended by the creator throughout the workflow.

 

Cinematographers can now also import and organize images on a per scene basis, assign metadata and basic looks, which can then be further color-corrected, viewed and compared on calibrated monitors with other system users.
