testing the stocks

Recommended Posts

hai :)

we are planning to shoot our next project totally with kodak 500T stocks,we are going to conduct a test between 5279 & 5218 and find which will suite us better, our project is totally limited to indoor, where we will have huge sets of a town like thing and it will be totally a night effect film,i just want tips and suggestions about how i should do my tests and what all aspects i should follow in my test to find the differences between both the stocks

Certainly you should run an exposure series, and test any variations of the lighting contrast (amount of fill). You will likely find the 5279 to be just a bit more contrasty, with the 5218 picking up a bit more detail in the deep shadows. The 5218 will have less graininess, and a more neutral tone scale from deep shadows to extreme highlights.
