Blake
I am in production of my graduation film. There is a scene at the begining of the film, where a car is driving along in the dark, I want to do it in my uni's studio and use a digital projector to project some out of focus mini-dv footage that I have shot out of my car. I was wondering how I would go about lighting it and how I would get the projector bright enough to shoot on kodak 500t stock. I am under the impression that they use a similar effect in 24. If someone could point me in the right direction with this, it would be most appreciated.
Stuart Brereton
24 use a 10,000 lumen projector for their plates. That's a serious piece of kit, the sort of thing used for conferences and other large events. You may get enough exposure from a smaller projector of 3-4000 lumens. You just need to test it first. A dSLR set to 1/50 sec & 500asa will give you a reference to work from.
