Premium Member Chad Stockfleth Posted March 30, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted March 30, 2006 I've recently been putting a Tiffen 82mm UV filter on our Fujinon zoom and have noticed that in certain conditions it adds some circular darkening on the image. Is this normal? Is there a way to avoid this? I want to keep some sort of protective glass on the lens, but this isn't acceptable. Any ideas? Premium Member Dan Goulder Posted March 31, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted March 31, 2006 I assume the problem occurs at the wide end of the zoom. If that's the case, one possible solution would be a thinner, wide-angle UV filter, such as one made by Hoya. If that doesn't do it, then perhaps a clamp-on lens shade with a 4x4 filter holder would work.
