Tron X
I am buying a canon 518 auto zoom and was wondering if it is cricial that it has its eye cup. I read something about the bolex super 8s stating that without the eye cup there was fogging on the film, is this true for other super 8 cameras - including mine? Is there a place I can buy a new one or will I be fine without it. Comfort is not an issue, I could easily make a simple one from cardboard and electrical tape if needed - as I've done before with a polaroid camera. Guest santo
Huh? You can buy an eyecup at any big camera store for a few bucks or use ebay. Of course it's important. Really inconvenient without one for framing or focusing (when not using tape measure). Fogging on film??? What nonsense. Almost impossible unless you've got a bright light shining there -- and then it's not fogging. However, in my experience, you'll need pretty much direct sunlight to maybe get anything on film. Out of focus shot because you can't position your viewing at a stable distance/level, sure.
