XDCAM HD overcranking/undercranking resolution

I've been told by several sources that when shooting between 4 and 23 fps and 26 and 60 fps that the XDCAM HD (the 350) camera's resolution is halved since it's an interlaced camera. Is there any actual literature or website that can confirm or deny this?

It's true. If you look at the properties of the .mov file of the footage, you'll see that it's 1440x540 (HALF of 1080).

Yes, it's true...it apparently halves the resolution, but owners of the camera "Dares You" to see the difference. They say you simply cannot see it drop the res.

What needs to happen that has not happened yet.....is a simple resolution chart test. 24fps vs. 30fps vs. 48fps vs. 60fps.

What most people fail to realize about the Sony Cine Alta is that the camera does not halve its resolution when it switches over to the 60p. The resolution stays exactly the same. What the camera does is increase the temporal resolution while decreasing the spatial resolution. If the spatial resolution were not decreased it would be doubling the total resolution as soon as it started shoooting 60p which would generate a total of 2160 scan lines for every one thirtieth of a second
