Broken flowers opening shot

Hello all,

I just watched Broken Flowers on DVD. Two things came to mind.

1). The opening dolly shot through suburbia didn't seem to combat the contrast of shade and sun. I know it may have been my television picture, but I would be interested in opinions of cameramen who have seen the shot and how they would have tackled it (big area, lots of windows reflections). No disrespect to the gentlemen who shot the film.

2). Looking through many past forums on car shots, I was impressed by the car daytime sequences. Mr. Bill Murray had sunglasses on and no spots from lights or reflections were seen, yet the backgrounds weren't blown out. Any thoughts as to the specific technique used?

Thanks all in advance,

Graeme
