Auto Exposure on Minolta

Hi all,

 

I just bought a used Minolta AutoPak-8 D4 camera and was wondering if there is a good way of testing the Auto exposure besides just sending fim through and see what it looks like once developed.

 

When I run the Camera, I can see numbers of the light meter changing in the veiwfinder in response to different light levels, but I'm not sure if the iris is actually doing anything.

 

Also, does anyone know where I might be able to find a manual for this camera?

As far as i know, the only way to test the auto-exposure would be to shoot some film and develop it.

 

However, i may have found you a camera manual. It will cost you a little money, but its the best i could find.

Have you tried running the camera with the cartridge door open, if you look into the gate and point the camera at different light levels you should see some variation in the iris.

 

As you say the best way to find out is to shoot some reversal film and find out - I don't know if this camera will work with 64T though, something to research

All Minolta Autopaks will work with 64T. The D4 is probally like my D6, I am able to lock the exposure once the camera has determined the proper Fstop. below is a picture of my Autopak 8 D-6.
