Albert Koval
By now we've all learned that capturing HDV channels 3&4 from the XL H1 into FCP is not an easy task. Since the audio stream is 392kbs regardless of whether the audio is recorded as 2-channel stereo (196kbs x2) or 4-channel (96kbs x4), it seems that if there was a way to access the greyed-out options for audio capture in the HD capture presets, FCP *should* be able to decode the audio stream correctly. Any thoughts out there?
Albert Koval
Oops, I didn't get those data rate numbers quite right did I? :-( The Canon XL H1 HDV audio stream is 384kbps, the stereo stream is 192kbps x2, and the 4-channel stream is 96kbps x4. --Albert By now we've all learned that capturing HDV channels 3&4 from the XL H1 into FCP is not an easy task. Albert Koval
Thanks Shannon. It's good to know I'm not the only one experiencing these problems. I solved my current problem for this particular project by recapturing the Audio/Video streams and recombining the audio and video tracks, but it was a lot of extra work. I am going to persevere on this issue to see if we can't get the custom HD capture presets in FCP to allow selection of all 4 audio streams... --Albert Al,Check this out: http://www.xlcinema.com/cinematic/showthread.php?t=1084
