Jimmy Ren
Hi. I was wondering if an Angenieux Super 8 lense with a C mount will work with an Eclair ACL2 16mm camera? Will it cover the full frame? Is a c-mount for a super 8 the same as a c-mount for a 16mm? Thanks!
Jon Kukla
No idea about the mount, but I'd be very surprised if a lens designed for Super 8 could actually truly cover a 16mm frame area. It might possibly be able to get most of it while vignetting, I suppose. The other question is whether or not the optics would be quality enough to get a decent image if it did cover. Premium Member Bernie O'Doherty Posted August 29, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted August 29, 2006 Hi, Jimmy, Jon is right on target with his answer. In fact, if you were shooting a pirate movie and wanted a spyglass point of view, any Super 8 lens would be perfect for the shot. It would cover only about 2/5 of the frame. The C mount is exactly the same focal distance (17.52mm) whether it's Super 8 or 16mm. Cheers, Bernie
