Recent Productions Shot on Fuji Stock

Likely to be one of the biggest movies shot in the world this year, New Line Cinema's The Golden Compass will be entirely shot on Fujifilm 35mm Eterna 500T 8573 and 35mm Eterna 250D 8563 by renowned cinematographer Henry Braham BSC. The production, filming on location and at Shepperton Studios, is the highly anticipated adaptation of the first of British author Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, and will be directed by Chris Weitz.

Starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Adam Godley and 12-year old newcomer Dakota Blue Richards, the epic story revolves around the character of Lyra Belacqua (Blue Richards). Principal photography commences on September 4.

 

 

Other productions filming on Fujifilm throughout the summer months include?

 

?Mister Lonely, starring Samantha Morton. Now in post-production, the film was directed by Harmony Korine and cinematography was by Marcel Zsykind.

Filming took place in Scotland and stocks used were 35mm Eterna 500T 8573, 35mm Eterna 250D 8563, 35mm Reala 500D 8592 and 35mm Super F-64D 8522.

 

Wrapping in mid-July was comedy I Want Candy. Directed by Stephen Surjik, the film stars Tom Burke, Tom Riley, Carmen Electra, Jimmy Carr and Mackenzie Crook. Entirely shot at Ealing Studios by DP Crighton Bone, I Want Candy is originated on 35mm Eterna 400T 8583 low contrast film.

 

Filming on location in the Lake District, Isle of Man and Scotland, Chris Noonan's Miss Potter was entirely originated 35mm Eterna 500T 8573, 35mm Eterna 250D 8563 and 35mm Reala 500D 8592. Director of Photography was Andrew Dunn BSC (The History Boys, Mrs Henderson Presents), and the cast includes Renee Zellweger (as Beatrix Potter), Ewan McGregor and Emily Watson.

 

Finishing principal photography in mid-August was Brick Lane, the adaptation of Monica Ali's novel of the same name. Filming took place in London by DP Robbie Ryan (Red Road) on Fujifilm's 35mm Eterna 500T 8573, 35mm Eterna 250T 8553 and 35mm Eterna 250D 8563.

 

Still filming on the Isle of Man is horror film The Deaths Of Ian. Directed by Dario Piana and cinematography by Stefano Morcaldo, the film is originated on 35mm Eterna 500T 8573 and 35mm Eterna 250D 8563.

 

Two Irish productions have just started using Fujifilm stock. The first is The Garage, produced by Dublin-based company Element Films. Filming in Birr, Co. Offaly and Dublin, DP Peter Robertson has selected 35mm Eterna 500T 8573, 35mm Eterna 250T 8553 and 35mm Super F-64D 8522 as his choice of stocks.

Starring Richard Chamberlain, Vinnie Jones and Michael Madsen, Strength and Honour will begin filming in early September on 35mm Eterna 500T 8573 and 35mm Eterna 250D 8563. At the director's helm is Mark Mahon, while Alan Almond BSC is Director of Photography. Filming will take place in the city of Cork.

 

Several television dramas were also using Fujifilm 16mm film stock. Those include?

 

?Dalziel & Pascoe: Fallen Angel. Directed by Ian Knox, this feature-length episode was lit by cinematographer Peter Thornton, and was filmed on 16mm Eterna 500T 8673, 16mm Eterna 250T 8653 and 16mm Super F-125T 8632.

 

World Productions modern-day Cinderella story (with a twist!) Goldplated was shot by DP Tony Slater-Ling on Fujifilm's 16mm Eterna 400T 8683 (low

con) and 16mm Reala 500D 8692 and will be aired on Channel 4.

 

Starring Robson Green, Little Devil is a new drama for ITV. Directed by David Richards and lit by DP Andrew Speller, the drama was filmed on 16mm Eterna 250T 8683 and 16mm Eterna 250D 8663.

 

A new drama from Granada is Dead Clever, written by Sally Wainwright, creator of At Home With The Braithwaites. Starring Suranne Jones, the drama was filmed on 16mm Eterna 500T 8673, 16mm Eterna 250D 8663, 16mm Reala 500D

8692 and 16mm Super F-64D 8622 by cinematographer Lukas Strebel.
