Ron Acuna
Hey everyone, I posted this in the "Video Only" section, but I think it's more suitable here. I needed a camcorder under $1600.00, so I purchased Sony DCR VX1000 based on past reviews. But with it being so old, I was curious if it still holds up today. I?m a newbie when it comes to filmmaking, so I want something that I can experiment with while still having enough money for other equipment. But I do plan on creating short films that I plan to enter in to festivals, and with it being made in 1995, I worry that the video won?t look as good compared to films being shot with more current technology. The person I bought it from is giving me time to think about it, so I was wondering if the VX1000 is still good to use. Thanks.
Bryant Jansen
The VX1000 WAS a great camera when it came out, but now I don't think it really holds up. Being that old, it probably has lots of time on the heads and wont be very reliable either. The Panasonic DVX100 is a GREAT miniDV camera and I'm sure you can find a used one in your price range. I have seen some really good looking stuff shot with it. Hope that was a help.
