Vision Research Inc., the long established leader in high-speed digital imaging, announced the establishment of a strategic partnership with NY and CA based Abel Cine Tech Inc. for the sales, rental and technical support of their Phantom HD and Phantom 65 high-speed digital cinema cameras.

?After introducing the cameras at NAB in April 2006, we immediately realized a demand in the production and entertainment sectors that augmented our established scientific and engineering markets,? said Rick Robinson, Director of Marketing for Vision Research.

?The cameras have been so well received that we?ve already sold through our first quarter ?07 production runs. In addition, we are experiencing an extraordinary demand for the rental of Phantom HD and 65 systems.

?Our new relationship with Abel allows us to fully leverage their resources, infrastructure and proven business model of sales, rental and service under one roof,? he explained.

Al de Marcken, VRI?s Director of North American Sales added, ?Abel?s staff has the industry knowledge, technical expertise and reputation to serve clients seeking high-speed digital cameras for television special-effects, commercials, music videos, sports, docs and other production-oriented applications. We are very pleased to have them representing our cameras throughout North America.?

The Phantom HD camera is capable of taking as many as 1000 frames-per-second (fps) at HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. When used in 2K applications (2048x1556, for example) the camera can take up to 700 fps. The digital sensor is equivalent in size to 35mm film, giving cinematographers true 35mm depth-of-field, while the PL lens mount provides access to a wide range of professional cine lenses.

As the world?s first 65mm digital cinema camera, the Phantom 65 is capable of taking stunning movies at up to 120 fps at resolutions up to 4096x2440. The sensor is equivalent in size to 65mm film, giving today?s cinematographers access to the coveted 65mm format in a digital camera.

?We are excited about bringing Vision Research cameras into our sales and rental line,? said Pete Abel, President and co-founder of Abel Cine Tech. ?We see this partnership as an opportunity to offer our clients an exciting new technology while providing Vision Research with access to a new client base that they had not previously addressed.

?The Phantom HD and 65 are true breakthrough cameras that enable cinematographers to capture images in ways not previously possible, especially in terms of frame rate flexibility, immediacy and relative production costs.

?We are equally delighted about the relationship with VRI, because we feel that their philosophy perfectly compliments the way we do business. We share the core values of providing our clients with cutting-edge technology that can enhance their creativity and backing it up with outstanding service and support.?
