nathan snyder
I have recently come into possession of camera crane called a Meccanica Italiana. Unfortunately, I have no documentation for it and can find no info anywhere on the web about it. Could anyone give me help finding details out about this crane like max loading capacity, manufacture date, optional accessories, etc...? I have been trying it out and compared to my experience with a Mathews Tulip crane I find this meccanica crane pretty good. It is more responsive to maneuvering and is not so bulky so an operator can move around it more quickly than a Tulip. Though it does not have the reach of a tulip, short by a couple of feet, it does get a camera up to a second story viewing with no problem. It is a great crane considering it only take two people to assemble, compared to the tulip which requires 4 or 6 that is great! Any help would be great! here are a couple of photos Edited May 22, 2007 by nathan snyder
dave edgar
Not much to add but maybe a little help, I have a crane very similar to this, it came with a dolly that was a refined copy of the Elemack Spyder/Octopus. I sent pictures to Elemack for identification and they told me that they had been manufactured in Rome by a company called Assotecnica. I haven't ben able to find out alot beyond that, but a company by that name still does exist in Rome, but since I speak no Italian I haven't been able to find out much more.
