Guest Robert G Andrews
...what do film companies normally do during the time that the script is being written, if anything?
Premium Member Brad Grimmett Posted May 30, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted May 30, 2007 These are REALLY general questions. I'm sure you'll get some good advice if you ask some specific questions, but I don't think anyone is going to walk you through the whole process step by step. You need to be MUCH more specific. Are you also the director? Are you going to sell the script or produce it yourself? ...etc., etc., etc.
Michael Palm
Well, if you want my general advice. This is a good overview to understand what you need to do. http://www.exposure.co.uk/eejit/ If you don't know screenplay format, check this out. http://www.exposure.co.uk/eejit/script/index.html Besides that, it all rests in your creation and idea. Hope this helps you in whatever you are doing.
Josh Brokenbourgh
Essential Book= "From word to image" By Marcie Begleiter Read it. Pre-pro (red light) Idea Treatment Script Shot list Storyboard / Location Scout Cost Breakdown sheet Budgeting Schedule and deadline update every step of the way Legal and Accounting Hire trustworthy/knowledgeable crew Table read, interview, and cast actors Schedule post crew, equipment, catering Innovation and Research Lock locations P.r. marketing pump Website construction Partnerships / Association Contests / Award / Festival schedules Create beauty boards, animatic (yellow light) Investor / Producer presentation Secure and disperse funds (Green light) Production Shoot - this is also necessary Post Cut (red light) Show producer / Investor Negotiate Wait for traffic and don't hit any pedestrians (or skaters please, thank you) (yellow light) Distribute Fail Succeed The point is everybody does it differently. It depends on what hats you want to were. If you want to see a vision come to life that represents life itself then you must know your vision so well that confidence is not an issue, only time, money and attitudes are. If you have money and you want to make money sell used cars. Study the masters, choose your favorites, use what you know, don't forget life (or your betters).
