Any truth to a bit of video footage in "The Brothers McMullen"?

I've enjoyed "The Brothers McMullen" and think that it's a pretty good example of a

a decent low budget film that seems to have been shot mostly with a two-three

person crew. A friend tells me that a couple of scenes, interiors in the attic, were shot

on video and transferred to film because the budget was too tight to get all the 16 mm.

negative needed. There is a lot of variance in the look of the film, although it's not

really disturbing to me as I like seeing an engrossing story done seemingly most of the

time with simply a camera, set of sticks, a mike, recorder and show card or piece

of Foam-Cor. However, has anybody noticed any shots/scenes

that seem to be video or knows anything about this?

 

By the way, the director's commentary is excellent for anybody interested in producing

a low-budget production. Ed Burns talks about nuts and bolts, not what he had for

breakfast. I wish that more director's commentaries would be like this (although he

doesn't mention using any video.)

 

Also in general,I also wish that DVDs would feature more D.P. commentary tracks. An

excellent one is Sandy Sisson's on "Salaam, Bombay" which is a terrific movie.
