Mason Walker
Hi. I am just getting into cinematography. I came across Dion Beebe's work in 'Chicago' and was hooked by his use of the camera. Soon, I found other well shot movie like Children of Men, Man Who Wasnt There, and Chungking Express. What more recent movies (as in 80's-now) should I check out to get a general idea of exemplary cinematography? I am getting the feeling their might already be a thread on this. if they're is, please direct me there. If not, I could use your opinion. Thanks! William A Chapman Jr
I would add "Gladiator" and "King Arthur"
Premium Member Brad Grimmett Posted July 13, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted July 13, 2007 There are so many examples that it would be hard to even begin listing them without being a bit more specific about what exactly you're looking for. If you just want to check out good cinematography, a good place to start would probably be Oscar nominees in the cinematography category. Of course there are many more from around the world that aren't included on that list, but that list will probably lead you towards other great looking films. Jim Simon
Two of what I consider to be stellar examples of cinematography are "The Last of the Mohicans" and "The Edge".
