dangertree
Hi, I have a chance to use some Cine Kowa T1.25 primes for a pretty good rate. Not close enough to me for tests. Wondering if anyone has used such lenses, if so, any opinions? Deciding between these and some older Zeiss speeds (for more $). Cheers!
dangertree
Nothin? Nada? Really? Any third-hand accounts from your uncle? Someone must have used/seen these before. Any general thoughts on Kowa for cine?
Mitch Gross
I have very limited knowledge of these lenses which is why I hesitated to post. But my memory tells me that they were inferior to Zeiss SuperSpeeds. However, back in the day individual lens quality varied far more than it does today, so it is possible that your friend has an excellent set of Kowas. Do you know it they cover Super-16? Is there a camera rental house near him that you can pay to evaluate the set for you?
Sam Wells
Are these the same thing as the Cinema Products Ultra T ? I used a couple of them once, but @ 2.8 I think, not wide open. Not too bad. -Sam
dangertree
Wound up using the local Zeiss, but... Still interested in these lenses, possibly to buy. I was wondering the same thing about the CP Ultra-T's. i know those were japanese made, and same T stop. Did Kowa manufacture for CP? Thanks for the replys. Sam Wells
"Did Kowa manufacture for CP?" That's my understanding. -Sam
