Selling our beloved Arri BL 2. I thought I would put it here before she goes on ebay. It has an interesting Hollywood history in that it was Mario Tosi ASC personal camera he bought in 1978 to shoot the classic film The Stuntman in 1979. THis was A camera on that picture. We bought the entire package from Mr. Tosi in 1984. He told us he shot the Stuntman with it and some commercials but that the studios wanted to use Panavision so he decided to sell it. So thats its history. We used it since then for commercials mostly. THe camera has been maintained very carefully over the years by Reinhard Lichter formerly tech at Otto Nemenz in Los Angeles. The package includes: Full set of B mount Zeiss primes: 16, 24, 32, 50 and 85. All these lenses came with the original package in 78. Angenieux 10 120 zoom lens. The zoom lens blimp. A couple of zoom motors and zoom control. Extension viewfinder. 2 1000 ft. and 2 or 3 400ft mags. All pulling film smoothly. Variable speed control. CEI black and white video tap in exc. shape. I believe we have both the TV ground glass and 1: 1:85 glass. Mirror is perfect. Arri handheld rig with the rubber pads and both grips. Two sets of matte box rods. The 6x6 matte box and the 4x4 matte box with swing away front. Optical glass in it. A ton of filters including all of Mario Tosi filters from the 70s and 80s. ie split diopters, fogs, low cons, plus the usual NDs, and 85 sets. All later cases with exc foam. We used to have the original silver Arri case but it may have gone missing by now. Body and mags are original paint and in good condition. There are some small touched up areas but overall it looks really good for a camera of this vintage. This camera never let us down. The pictures are nothing short of beautiful as only those old small body ziess standard primes are and the Ang. zoom matches them perfectly. I worked on that film early in my career and I remember that Mr. Tosi kept the zoom on most of the time. I wish I could find some production stills from the movie to show him with this camera. I probably will by the time I put it on ebay. We have all the orginal paper work from him too to document the camera. Lastly, we had it rebuilt by Axel Broder about 4 or 5 years ago for about 6-7 K. Motor, all new inside. We have used it very little though since then. There are so many accessories with this camera I cant remember them all. I will put anyone interested in touch with my AC David Etherington to detail everything. The camera is in the Sacramento area and anyone interested can come up and shoot a test and check it out. She is ready to shoot..great for handheld(light weight) and steadicam. Email me lhardy46@sbcglobal.net for pictures or call Landy at 916 652 5587. Reason for selling: I am moving to a new area and we are selling off our gear. See the Arri SR 2 also for sale. Price: I am thinking $24K but open to offers. I think that is a decent price considering what we have here. I will not break it up. it must stay together.
