foreignfilm
What are the problems with the English model? I just found out that the ACL I got is English-made. It comes with a Cinema Products motor. Would that help? Thanks.
Premium Member Bernie O'Doherty Posted August 1, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted August 1, 2007 The only negative features (forgive the pun) about the English ACL is the fact that it was not built for hi speed, and the 400ft mag does not run nearly as well as the French (not 'cause I'm Irish). Apart from that, they run well with the original motor/CP motor and a 200ft mag.
Marty Hamrick
I've only actually observed one English ACL in the field. It was first bought by a local production company back in the early 70's.It was in the shop more times than it was out and I suspect that fact had much to do with the company going belly up.Don't remember what the recurring problem was,but a gaffer friend of mine ended up with it and he says today it makes a good door stop. His advice was to never buy an English Eclair.
