Ed Scott
I received the following setting requirements from a client who wants to shoot with a Varicam next week. I know I can change the frame rate to 30fps, but what's up with their frequency request? Can you change this setting? From the client: Frequency of 59.94 with a frame rate of 30 = which will create a frame rate of 29.97 This applies to Panasonic Varicam This can be easily cross converted to 1080i/59.94 (same as 29.97)
Premium Member John Ealer Posted October 13, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted October 13, 2007 Main Menu 4 -> Option -> System Freq -> 59.94. This basically gives you "NTSC compatible" frame rates slowed down .01% from the nominal frame rate. This is the setting usually used with the Varicam for most broadcast applications... In this mode, 30fps is actually 29.97, 24 fps is 23.976, 60 fps is 59.94, etc. The other option for the FREQ setting is 60Hz, which gives you "clean" whole number frame rates, should you need them.
