  1. Thanks for clearing that up John - much appreciated!
  2. I received the following setting requirements from a client who wants to shoot with a Varicam next week. I know I can change the frame rate to 30fps, but what's up with their frequency request? Can you change this setting? From the client: Frequency of 59.94 with a frame rate of 30 = which will create a frame rate of 29.97 This applies to Panasonic Varicam This can be easily cross converted to 1080i/59.94 (same as 29.97)
  3. Although just my opinion, when lighting for docs, I tend to go with less. No need to try and match a "Dateline" look with 15 instruments. I'd go with KinoFlos Interview kit (one 4 light, 2 - 2 light) I'd probably throw in a few 300w Arri's with dimmers to light anything in the background. Other than that, less is more - go with it!
  4. I've only shot a few time-lapse sequences with the camera, but the results were great. The Varicam has an Intervalometer as a feature in the menu "Function" (5:1) You can shoot a minimum of 10 frames on up to 15 frames in bursts of 2-8 frames. You should refer to Goodman's Guide to get specifics. Good luck -Scott
  5. OK, that makes a bit more sense. I shot the Varicam this past weekend, and dialed in the frame rate to 60 with the intention of have the tape for slow motion. I had read Goodman's guide and it just seemed a bit to easy. I guess I was thinking it took more tweaking. I understand that playback in the camera will look normal, so it's when inputting the footage into the computer that you can manipulate the frames to see the slomo results? thanks for all the great input - nice community here!
  6. I've read a number of posts regarding the variable frame rates the Varicam shoots at. My question is, In order to overcrank at 60fps, all I need to do is increase the frame rate indicator to 60 by pushing the Synchro+ button? Seems way to simple.
