Delorme Jean-Marie
Hi it's a post production question, i don't know where to post it honestly. The film is shot on HDcam, we have a graded master on HDcam. the last thing to do prior to go to a print is to create the subtitles and the credits. the subtitles existes already in the SD timeline. what should i recomand the production to do? what is the procedure to create subtitles in HD. how do you make subtitles (software?) about the credits that have to be HD too what is the rule (size of letters, time for a line to scroll up?) i have names to write in arabic are there any plugs in in avid to do so? All this is for a short film, and it's my first time taking care of subtitles. thanks to share your experience
Premium Member John Sprung Posted November 6, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted November 6, 2007 I don't know where to send you in France, but here in the U.S., the place to start is WGBH's Caption Center/NCAM: http://main.wgbh.org/wgbh/access/access.html HD has lots of support for subtitles and/or captions that can be turned on or off, giving you a choice of many languages. If you don't need that, you could do your subtitles "by hand" in the Avid or FCP, just like titles and credits. If you're doing it all yourself, you might be better off that way. If you're paying an editor, a caption service vendor will probably be more cost effective. -- J.S.
